The bump is bountiful . It ’s inescapable . The blow will distract you . And the extrusion is not that tough . It ’s visible on both the iPhone 11 and the iPhone 11 Pro , but the bump on the Pro seems far more seeable thanks to the three cameras crammed into the jut , and Apple ’s conclusion to make the spyglass around it shiny .
You will acknowledge this hump . And you will be unreasoningly mindful of the fact that its call attention to the only real noticeable difference between the 11 and the 11 Pro .

Oh sure , as we discussed yesterday , the shelling life on the Pro is expect to be superior , the showing should be nicer , and the charger will charge quicker — but none of those thing seize the eye the waythe three trypophobia - inducing camerasdo .
The cameras are the stars of the show . It ’s why Apple expend quite a bit of fourth dimension talking about “ computational photography mad science ” and Deep Fusion , a future software feature film that will take nine images at once with the Pro ’s camera and then crunch them into a individual super sharp persona . It ’s why we take heed a lot about Nox time picture taking and sat through an entire video shot on the Pro ’s three cameras , plus another demo that picture off shooting with all three cameras at once .
Apple want you to be hyper - witting of these television camera and the bump — the hump highlights them nicely .

I don’t think its as bad as people think it is!Photo: Alex Cranz (Gizmodo)
I ’m not sure it ’s the worst thing in the creation either . If you survived the notch and the X ’s original bighearted prominence , you ’ll survive the bump on the fresh iPhones . The lenses are about as marvelous as the lenses on my X , there ’s just a lot more of them . The square itself is less one large bulging bump and more a very fragile rise largely exacerbate by the two - tone glass refinement . If the glassful on the backs of the 11 and 11 Pro were all one grain , the bump conversation would be near negligible .
But Apple decided to get into the matt shabu biz , so here we are .
The iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max both have mat glass backs that pick up fingerprints fast and behave , initially , on the button as you ’d await mat glass to behave when met with one C of greasy diary keeper hands .

However , Apple applied an oleophobic finish to the glass so , in my experience , it seems very easy to clean the spyglass back up with the wipe of a cloth . It ’s silly , but that ’s a grownup deal . Matte glass devices run to get real ugly real fast because they absorb finger grease so rapidly .
I did n’t get a pot of time with the Pro — certainly not enough to decide if it ’s deserving a $ 300 insurance premium — but the time I did expend was drop with the television camera .
Apple was eager to point out the all-important mastery the 11 Pro camera and video apps provide . And sure enough , the Pros I handled devote me more fine - tuned dominance over the cameras than I ’ve ever had before from an iPhone — at least while using Apple ’s tv camera app .

Apple has absolutely been behind every other big telephone maker when it hail to the camera . Google catch tosuperior night photographybefore Apple , and Huawei and Samsung both beat it to the triple - tv camera punch . But Apple ’s finally plug back , and while we wo n’t screw how well it succeeds until we in reality review the 11 Pro and Pro Max , we do know one thing right this moment : Apple really wants us to care about its phone cameras . So it ’s given them a lil ’ encouragement .
