For century , the rule of the Troubles have been simple : trouble are passed down through family lines — and only through family product line . A Troubled Crocker can end a hassle perpetually , and Sarah / Audrey / Lexie may have the power to end all Troubles once and for all . But what happens when all the rules go topsy - turvy ?

This was a nice transition episode , one that pull off to up the scourge from last week ’s contagious bother — and one that trade with this season ’s root of morals and sacrifice . We learn that the Driscolls are a famously unTroubled family ( I marvel if that incentivizes fidelity among the unTroubled ) , but that two Driscoll sidekick have suddenly developed a bother that increases the pressure of the orbit around them , crushing everything and everyone in sight . Those muggers who round Carrie ( and , as one commenter pointed out last week , are the fellows from the Barn ’s Oatley Tap Room — Heavy and Sinister ) are back , and they have seemingly given the Driscolls their new Trouble , once again changing the rules of the game .

Jack Driscoll , who seems to have a great deal of sense , resolve that he ’s go to ask Duke to kill him , to ensure that his brother and his unborn nephew will be Trouble - free . I ’m sort of surprised this does n’t happen more often — that syndicate do n’t pull out lots or give an elderly member to the Crocker Curse to terminate their Trouble . The Crockers have been see as demon huntsman , but they should be sort of macabre saviors , thinning out the Troubles where mass are willing to sacrifice themselves . But it ’s a moot decimal point now ; Duke ’s Trouble is go thanks to his wipe out Wade .

Jennifer and Duke are have rather paired experiences at the here and now . Duke has just cast the last of his family along with his Trouble , and he ’s wonder if there ’s anything left for him in Haven . Jennifer , meanwhile , is ascertain artifacts of her biological house and a home in Haven — and a certain clarity about who Duke is : a hero , someone prostrate to give . She ’s also witness the harbingers of the top-notch - Troubles , the horseshoe Cancer with human eyes .

This may be because I ’m a Long Islander who grew up along the piss , but I totally love the horseshoe Cancer herald . They ’re already pretty uncanny looking beasties and the human eye are the complete hint to push them into fully creepy territorial dominion .

I also enjoy that this rewriting of the rules of the Troubles has bedevil Vince and Dave for a iteration . Seeing the two of them off their ground mean that they ’ll be thoroughly involved in solving the townsfolk ’s whodunit — and may discover a few of their own in the process .

And of row , there is the closing . Is it possible that Audrey vote down Nathan , at least temporarily ? And , given the next instalment ’s preview , might we have traded Nathan for the mystical William ?
