Arcade Fire ’s new record album ’s generating tons of exhilaration , but we ’re more stoked about their collaborations with music genre film ’s leading lighter . Spike Jonze is point their science fiction short picture show , and Terry Gilliam ’s steer the webcast of their August 5 concert .
Arcade Fire ’s Win Butler describes the Spike Jonze project in an interview with Pitchfork :
It ’s not a television . It ’s a light film ; we ’re still working on it . It ’s like a skill - fiction B - movie companion piece for the record book .

Basically , we play Spike some music from the record album and the first images that number to his mind had the same feeling as this estimation for a science fiction plastic film I had when I was younger . My brother and I and Spike pen it together , which was really fun — it was like total inexpert hour .
We snap it in Austin and a lot of kid are in the flick , and it was big just hanging out with these 15 - year - olds for a hebdomad and writing down all the amusing things they said . It was cool to revert to being a 15 - year - honest-to-goodness for a footling while .
So … tiddler and aliens and the medicine of Arcade Fire Presents The Suburbs ? Sounds like play .

As for the Terry Gilliam thing , he’sdirecting the live webcastof their August 5 show at Madison Square Garden , which will be streamed on Youtube starting at 10 PM EST . [ Pitchfork ]
