Moulin Rouge director Baz Luhrmann is tinkering with the idea of film a classic futuristic tale , he narrate io9 . We caught up with Baz at his Australia premiere , and he admit he ’d recollect about swap from movies set in the yesteryear to create stories set in the future . Baz think the future has gotten a turn older - fashioned , but he ’s got some approximation for spicing it up .
Baz , you ’ve done two moving picture now looking back on the past do you consider that we ’ll ever see a raw undertaking from you that is your vision of the hereafter ?
That ’s a great question – I do n’t know about the future but I certainly would do something that is set in a present-day environment . I might throw everything off that I ’ve done and I think in your work you have to refresh your life , and I intend to do that once I ’ve sort of collected my own self again . But it ’s a respectable question , I mean , next work , its been very de rigueur , a lot of it , right ? really there are a few time to come - project … . I call back if you address it you have to address it in a totally wise way . It ’s become a bit quondam fashioned . I mean the future has become old fashioned . Now is so much more consumed with it now than we ever have been before .
What would you do to make a look on the future refreshful ?
It would be about the undertaking at helping hand , it ’s only about recount the story . You do n’t have to take a book off the shelf so much as what do I have to convey , and then you make up out . So it ’s a job . It ’s something I would n’t just guess , you cognize .
Are there any epic futuristic motion-picture show that you would wish to do , or make or be seize to ?
I can . I ’m not gon na say it becase I ’m really thinking about one . It ’s a few classic . I do n’t want to go there .
Q : Just a few hints ?
No , it ’s too easy to guess . I should n’t ‘ ve enjoin it , I really really want to do some music work . Because I get it on music so much , and I move with everyone you know , I mean , Placido Domingo or David Bowie or Missy Elliot , you know and each one of them it ’s like , to me the music part of it , get together on euphony , it ’s the holiday part . That ’s the political party part for me . I suppose now too there are so many musical comedy being made , I ’d really wish to make something that was kind of flying and very contemporary actually , to make my life a small more fun .
Would you make another Sunscreen song for the course of instruction of 2010 ?
I ’m glad you happen it useful . You know what I really commemorate the run - up to 2009 so I ’m unused out of curtain raising titles , but I wish music , I like soundtracks , I did a pile of the work on the music for this film , I had great henchman , I in reality , that gentleman’s gentleman over there serve me save a song with Elton John , a ruined film , do some lyrics and that was enjoyable , I loved that .
What can you say me about the implication of the Wizard of Oz in your new movie Australia ?
Actually the photographic film and the conformation of it is going down the yellow brick road . It ’s a journey film , the wizard of oz is a journeying picture show , where someone goes on a journey they meet all sort of characters and they realize that what they ’re look for is really indoors . And that ’s parallel in my film but original something against the wizard of oz , but the aboriginal boy he gets the wizard of oz and his primeval organized religion conflate up . And I believe that ’s a beautiful affair in the world when thing get mixed up and make something new and fresh . I used the music to , I ca n’t quite differentiate you , but it ’s got quite a special plot significance at the end .
