After Strange let Peter into a frozen - over Sanctum Sanctorum — which has forced the Sorcerer Supreme out of his distinctive robes and into a much more cozy Columbia University hoodie and gusty windcheater , albeit still with his mystical cloak atop it all — and the two central pleasantry .

As Peter fill in his situation to Doctor Strange , we cut to an challenging shot of a maskless Peter hightail it through a cafeteria ( it ’s not Midtown ’s , as the citizenry there are far too old to be students ) , as a worker points in a direction for Peter to chase some unobserved enemy . It ’s not just that his masquerade party is off that ’s interesting , but Peter is weary a fresh , fatal - and - gold Spider - Suit . This had previously been revealed by product makers , and simply titled then as , well , the Black and Gold Spider - Suit . Hot Toys ’ version of the suit , intriguingly , include some details we do n’t glimpse here : it has a gantlet over the left branch , fashioned in a similar ornate purpose to Doctor Strange ’s Eye of Agamotto , that Peter can shoot translucent blue webbing from , fence by spue circle that once again are reminiscent of Doctor Strange ’s thaumaturgy . Anyway ! That was a lot . And we get to see more elements of it amount into play as Peter and Stephen descend into the Sanctum ’s lower levels to train the trance , Strange trying to cast as Peter frustratingly observe asking for alterations — can MJ still remember ? Can Ned ? Can Aunt May ?

A seemingly random guessing of a dust swarm filled with lightning bolts string at a car punctuates this danger Stephen discussed . Because Marvel fans are Marvel fan , people are already speculating that this could be related to not one , but two Spidey villains . The lightning , of course , is potentially Electro , and Jamie Foxx ’s iteration of the villain in Marc Webb ’s Amazing Spider - Man 2has been hard bruit to be repeat in this movie . The dust , masses are assume given … well , things we ’ll get to afterward in this trailer , could be another iconic Spidey foe : Flint Marko , aka Sandman , perhaps even specifically the Thomas Haden Church iteration fromSam Raimi ’s Spider - Man 3 .

A playfulness thing to remark : the Daily Bugle van we see on the right here does n’t entirely match with any previous interpretation of the Bugle logotype we ’ve run into in the Spider - Man movies . It ’s unaired to the the Far From Home looping thanks to the sideways positioning of the ‘ The ’ , but the Bugle symbol in the U is missing — and , as far as we know , this version is rigorously an online way out . mayhap this is another reality , or even more thing got changed by Strange ’s patch ?

“ The problem is you , trying to experience two different lives , ” Strange mocks , as we see a very trippy sequence of the Sorcerer Supreme and Spider - Man flinging through what looks like the Grand Canyon , atop multiply New York subway cars . Perhaps , given other references to the picture here , a nod tothe iconic traintop scrap from Spider - Man 2 , or maybe Doctor Strange just really has a thing for the MTA .

A couple of interesting quick blastoff here — the first go steady unusual push Peter out of his suit and into the astral plane , just as the Ancient One once did to him , and Peter is holding a mystifying cuboid artefact with similar intricate patterning like that seen on the Eye of Agamotto .

It ’s cut with a similar stab , but of a different scene , where soldier apparently target Happy Hogan ( Jon Favreau ) , presumptively from some deep personnel looking for associates of Peter .

Two more quick shots — the first is very hard to point out , as some tincture - shrouded monstrous figure of speech startles Peter behind some kind of forcefield , slashing at it to make a crimson ripple . Peter has mess of giant - sized enemy in the comics of course , but give all the references being pulled here it ’s hard not to think of a creature like Curt Connors ’ the Lizard . The good doctor turned slightly - less - serious reptilian goliath has previously featured in both Sam Raimi and Marc Webb ’s Spider - Man motion picture although rigorously as Dr. Connors in the former ( played by Dylan Baker ) , while in the latter ( played by Rhys Ifans ) , he was depowered and detained at the end of Amazing Spider - Man . Given that movie concluded with Jimmy Conors being go about by a shadowy figure that was teased to be setting up the Sinister Six , and we never saw those program come to fruition with the cancellation of Amazing Spider - Man 3 — could they be derive together now ?

Molina wasone of the first major rumors aroundNo Way Home when it came to returning actors , so he ’s not that much of a surprise to see — especially as he’sbeen talking about being backalready ! But , as Spidey dice - hards know , Doc Ock ostensibly perished at the end of Spider - Man 2 , so how this adaptation of the character survived ( whether it is indeed specifically the Raimi Octavius , or another one in the multiverse that just happen to look like dear character actor Alfred Molina ) to battle our own Spider - Man persist to be seen . mayhap Peter coulddo with a few friendsto assistant incur out ?

After months of rumors and hearsay , at least some theme of what we can expect from No Way Home has become a small clearer here . Whether it ’s the arriver of onetime foeman — and the potential for erstwhile protagonist to follow in their wake , who have also been heavily rumored — or even just how Peter ’s personal problems are become to end up having big impacts on the multiversal centering Marvel movies are trending in at the minute , this newfangled trailer gives us a pile to chew on .
