Sometimes , life gets you down . Sometimes , a dick cuts ahead of you in line at the airport and you lose your flight . Sometimes , you prick into a moldy peach . And sometimes , your Roomba smears pet shit all over your house .
In the latter scenario , at least , you ’re not alone . accord to iRobot , the party behind the famed automated vacuum , shit - smearing is a common occurrence .
“ Quite honestly , we see this a mountain , ” a spokesman for the companytold theGuardian . “ We generally tell mass to try not to schedule your void if you know you have dogs that may make such a mess . With animals anything can happen . ”
The spokesman was responding to the tale of Jesse Newton , whoseFacebook postdescribing his feces - laden Roomba adventure explode last week .
“ Do not , under any fortune , rent your Roomba fly the coop over dog poop , ” Newton wrote . “ … it will circularise the bounder poop over every imaginable open within its reach , resulting in a household that closely resembles a Jackson Pollock poop painting . ”
It ’s not just Newton , however . The iRobot spokesman was n’t exaggerating : This whoreson happens a lot . Becca , a neuroscientist who spoke to the Guardian but would n’t provide her last name , said that it had happened to her “ between five and 10 times over the past two old age . ”
The Guardian reports :
“ It ’s dreaded . The poop gets stuck in these tiny treads in the wheel , gets sucked deep down and in all the coppice , ” Becca explained . “ That ’s on top of the poop smeared all over the firm . ”
“ A duad of weeks ago we had this big asterisk on the floor because the Roomba was going in zigzag trying to get the spot , ” she said .
in person , if I had pets that shit in my family frequently , I probably would n’t apply a Roomba , but you do you , Becca .
Besides Becca , it ’s also happened tocolleagues , Redditors , Amazon reviewers , andYouTube user . It ’s not solely surprising , of course : Roombas do n’t typically come with shit detector , and if you expend it at night , as Newton did , you would likely pass out before realizing it was trekking BM all over your house .
iRobot , for its part , looks like aware that this is a unparalleled , uh , challenge for the Roomba . “ Our engineers are always judge to figure out ways to help citizenry with their problem , and we ’ve known this is an emergence multitude trade with , ” the spokesman separate the Guardian . “ I ca n’t say we have the answer yet but it ’s certainly something our engineers are aware of . ”
