This might be the strong evenfall movie season we ’ve ever seen . Almost every week has a film total out that we ’re either excited about or curious about . After apretty entertaining summer , the movies are giving us a mix of crazy action film and thought process - provoking weirdness for the fall .
Here ’s our lean of 26 movies coming this fall — including five we ’re dead sure will be great .
Before you ask , there are no release dates for John Dies at the ending , Antiviral , or Neil Jordan ’s vampire movie Byzantium . We ’ll keep you posted .
The Possession ( August 31 )
Formerly titled Dybbuk Box , this is the uncommon Judaic horror movie , about a kinsperson who buy a weird boxwood at a thou sale . Starring Jeffrey Dean Morgan ! And Sam Raimi is a producer .
Prognosis : We really lovedthe poke , and the first clipreminded us of Raimi ’s creepy work . So , lop fingers baffle .

prospect : It sounds very much like They survive , but the shot in the trailer of tentacle coming out of people ’s backs are kind of cool . And Max von Sydow and Jeffrey Tambor are both evil corporate suit , and it looks like they have scenes together . Could be fun .

The third installation of the Spanish horror serial is sort of a prequel as well as a continuation , taking place during the other two film . And it evidently explains the origin of the demonically possessed people in the first two picture show . Oh , and the whole affair takes place at a wedding ceremony reception .
Prognosis : Apparently , it ’s not that great . It’ssillierandless thrillingthan the first two .
toy in the Attic ( September 7 )
This Czech quit - motion animation version of Toy Story boast a group of toys that add up to life . They have to rescue a doll name Buttercup from an evil human - faced bug puppet . The English - language interlingual rendition has the voice of Cary Elwes , Joan Cusack and Forest Whitaker . Watch the trailerhere .

Resident Evil : Retribution ( September 14 )

Plus we ’re meeting zombies from all over the world , include a lot of Nipponese zombi . Oh , and Michelle Rodriguez is back as a brace of clones of her original character : one good , one bad .
Prognosis : I was n’t that aroused until I show the thing about a good Michelle Rodriguez and an vicious Michelle Rodriguez , in the same movie . Good Michelle Rodriguez force a Prius , bad Michelle Rodriguez is a accelerator pedal nut . ( They still have Priuses after the zombie apocalypse ? )
The Master ( September 14 )
Both Paul Andersons have movies out the same week — but the Paul Thomas Anderson picture show is about a unearthly science fable - wye craze leader after World War II . Everybody keeps deliberate whether it ’s about Scientology , but it almost does n’t matter — it ’s about that era where new spiritual fads were springing up based on science fabricated notions , from Orgones to Thetans . And the trailers look mesmerizing .
Prognosis : It should rule .
Dredd ( September 21 )
The post - apocalyptic peace officer of Mega City One alternate out of the comics and into the moving picture , with Karl Urban playing Dredd without ever taking his helmet off . We saw this film at San Diego Comic Con , and we were blow out forth by its artistic approach to 3D violence . Plus its surprising intelligence .

Looper ( September 28 )
Brick conductor Rian Johnson reteams with Joseph Gordon - Levitt for a thriller about outlaw who use time travelling to dispose of mass they want to remove without leaving any troublesome physical structure around . Bruce Willis play Gordon - Levitt ’s older ego , whom Gordon - Levitt is supposed to execute . Everything we ’ve seen and pick up about this film has made us more excited to see it .
Hotel Transylvania ( September 28 )
Adam Sandler play Dracula , in this zany animated comedy about a haunt for monster , where a human backpacker randomly shows up and start up romancing Dracula ’s daughter . This is the big - screen debut of Genndy Tartakovsky ( Dexter ’s Laboratory , Star Wars : The Clone Wars , Samurai Jack ) .
Prognosis : We need to see young stuff from Tartakovsky , but it ’s hard to get past “ Adam Sandler plays Dracula . ”

Frankenweenie ( October 5 )
Tim Burton makes a full - length variant of the little moving-picture show that helped get him fire from Disney in 1984 , about a boy who reanimates his dead dog — causing all heck to break loose . It ’s in black and whitened , and feels very much like an Ed Wood - esque homage to classical repulsion and scientific discipline fiction flick of the 1950s .
Prognosis : We saw a ton of footage at Comic Con , and it felt both charming and appealingly camp . This could be a retort to fun for Burton .

In this “ set up footage ” horror anthology , a group of hood break away into a house looking for one very limited video mag tape — and they nose up watcing a crew of creepy , disturbing TV along the way . Director Scott Derrickson tries to redeem himself after The Day the Earth Stood Still , with this low - budget horror film . Ethan Hawke is a true criminal offence writer who moves into the mansion where a family was obliterate , and start watching the videotape of what happened to the family — but he starts to realize that there ’s a supernatural entity postulate , the hellish “ Eater of Children . ” And his own family could be at risk .

Prognosis : It looks almost unspeakably fun . High hopes for this one .
Atlas Shrugged , Part 2 ( October 12 )
Just in clock time for the drop election , it ’s another dose of Ayn Rand , the second movie in a planned trilogy . All of the part have been recast this time around , and there ’s a new director : John Putch , who direct many episodes of Scrubs and Cougar Town .
Prognosis : It ca n’t really be as bad as the first movie … can it ?
Paranormal Activity 4 ( October 19 )
Paranormal Activity 3 was way skillful than the second pic , and this series is still a license to print money . So we ’re going back to the well one more time . This time , we ’re following the sister of the original girl , plus her stolen demon baby . No , I do n’t know what that means , either . We come the neighbors who are perplexed by the crazy shit that ’s going down since the monster baby moved in next door .
Prognosis : This film was directed by the same distich as PA3 , so it might really be another really scary installment .
Cloud Atlas ( October 26 )
David Mitchell ’s sprawl , musical style - withstand novel becomes an challenging , crazy movie from the Wachowskis and Run Lola Run ’s Tom Tykwer . With a cast include Tom Hanks , Halle Berry , Susan Sarandon and Jim Broadbent all playing a motley of eldritch role with crazy prosthetics and makeup , this film looks like one of the most ambitious projects in eld .
Prognosis : It ’s either going to be a chef-d’oeuvre or a trainwreck . middling much no middle ground with this one .
Silent Hill : Revelation ( October 26 )
The long - awaited sequel to what might be the only good video game movie ever made , the novel Silent Hill reunites Game of Thrones hotshot Kit Harington and Sean Bean . There are creepy nursemaid and insane scares , and by all story the new moving picture is trying to recapture what made the original celluloid ( and secret plan ) so great .
medical prognosis : The footage we see at Comic Con was reasonably astonishing , and this sounds like it might be a worthy continuation . finger span .
Vamps ( October 26 )
Clueless director Amy Heckerling reunites with Alicia Silverstone for a movie about two beautiful vampires in the city , trying to keep up with the modernistic man anddeal with change fashions , widget and dance crazes . Until they go down in love , and everything variety . Sigourney Weaver plays an evil vampire queen .
Prognosis : We ’ve been excite about this film for a duo of geezerhood , and we ’re glad it ’s finally coming out . lease ’s go for it ’s as beneficial as Clueless was .

shipwreck - It Ralph ( November 2 )

Once again , Bill Condon directs , and add his love of horror film and outcasts to bear on the report of Bella ’s baby Renesmee , her lycanthrope boyfriend Jacob , and all the vampire who want to wipe them out .
Prognosis : We were hop for great things from part one and found it kind of flat , although also intermittently worrying . Here ’s hoping they saved the excitation for the finale .
living of Pi ( November 21 )

North Koreans invade the United States , in this remaking of the classical eighties “ red panic ” teen military action pic . It ’s up to Thor and Peeta to salvage us all , by fighting back . It ’s sort of a dystopian near - time to come , where the North Koreans have a “ new class of weapon ” that practice EMPs to take down all the U.S. defenses .
Prognosis : It seem like an amazingly melty piece of cheeseflower . It might burn up your lip , though , so it might be fresh to await until it chill off a little , and comes out on DVD or something .
rising of the Guardians ( November 21 )
Badass tough - guy versions of Santa Claus , the Easter Bunny , the Tooth Fairy and the Sandman enlist the aid of a carefree Jack Frost to help terminate Pitch , aka the Boogeyman , from harm the children of the world . free-base on a book by William Joyce , who wrote the screenplay and also was heavy convoluted in the moving-picture show .

The Hobbit : An Unexpected Journey ( December 14 )
And finally , there ’s the first film of the new Hobbit trilogy , from director Peter Jackson . Everybody from the Lord of the Rings picture show is back , and Martin Freeman is just perfect as the younger Bilbo Baggins . Bilbo gets recruited to be a “ thief ” and help a radical of gnome lot with a troublesome flying lizard . But first he ’ll have to face a number of other dangers along the way .
prospect : The footage we saw at Comic Con looked just astounding , and Freeman look like he ’ll steal the movie . On the other bridge player , a mickle depends on how much this gets slog out to save poppycock for two more movies .
