Last Nox ’s instalment of Warehouse 13 was all about growing up and stuff — it ’s Claudia ’s 21st natal day , and meanwhile Steve Jinks present his ex - boyfriend and outgrows some of his old hangups . And yet , this episode really felt weirdly regressive .

As in , none of these characters seemed to be testify the growth we ’d already seen from them in the past few years . especially the featured twain , Claudia and Steve . coddler ahead …

For some ground , this was the first instalment of Warehouse 13 that has n’t go for me lately — partly , I recollect it ’s because we ’ve been wait so long to meet a love interest of Steve ’s , either retiring or present , and the relationship with Liam felt like a bit of a disappointment . Liam was sweet , and I trust we see more of him — but the rationality why it did n’t work out seemed kind of poorly imagine out . Steve ran out on Liam because he could recount Liam was rest about stuff ? That would seem weird , except we know that Steve ’s had the “ human Trygve Lie - sensor ” ability his whole life-time , and he ’s had plentitude of time to fine-tune it . People presumably rest to Steve always . I could n’t quite buy into the notion that he would coldcock the guy cable who he “ think was ‘ the one ' ” just because he could detect some lies coming out of him . That seems … weird .

More than that , it feels like all of a sudden Steve ’s personality is defined just by his metahuman ability , rather of by all the other quirk and hangups we ’ve discovered about him over the years .

Meanwhile , the Artie - Claudia dynamic also feel like it ’s been reset to the DoS of a few geezerhood ago , although maybe that ’s supposed to show that we ’re eventually past the “ Claudia jab Artie ” thing — the point where Claudia can make a weird joke about it . And then , the Claudia - Steve moral force is on the spur of the moment back in the “ OMG you ’re my gay best supporter ” territory that we seemed to have left behind ages ago .

I did like Liam being uncoerced to sacrifice his life story for Steve , and Pete and Myka saving the Clarence Shepard Day Jr. from the lava disaster with some totally preposterous car stunting . And Claudia bring forth to duet with Cherie Currie from the Runaways at the end , which is also extremely cunning . Also , Pete deciding that Liam is “ gay me ” and this proves that Pete is Steve ’s type is kind of awe-inspiring and disturbing . Also , the running “ Artie is hiring a clown ” jest is fairly cute , I guess .

The actual storylines this clock time around are absolutely “ artifact of the workweek , ” meanwhile . There ’s an amphora that create lava , which an escaped convict is using to attack his former work party , so his alienated son wo n’t join . And Artie is planning a 1960s party for Claudia , but somehow he gets zapped by Beethoven ’s clock to be deafen by Classicial music — the moral being , do n’t fuck around with artefact , even when it ’s somebody ’s birthday .

I guess this was a moderately okay episode , but the characters sense sort of off for some reason . And Steve ’s designate relationship felt doomed for the faulty reason . Not this show ’s best or most memorable episode , essentially .
