For the first time in a while, fans are finally getting an update on Disney’sFrozen 3.
“Every morning last week they carved out space for me to work with the creative team on it, and I am blown away and I am so excited,” said Lee, Disney Animation’s chief creative officer, perVariety.
“I don’t know what I’m doing on it yet — I’m not doing nothing — except doing what I do now, which is we work on every project as as team and I’m in there with creative," she explained to the publication. “But withFrozen, just a little bit more.”
Lee, who manned the screenplay on both of theFrozenfilms so far, also opened up about her “philosophy” when it comes to movies, specifically the popular franchise.
“If there is more story to tell, the filmmakers have to drive it,” she revealed in conversation with the National Film and Television School’s Tricia Tuttle. “And I’ll say withFrozen, Marc Smith, who was our director of story onFrozen 2, came with an incredible idea for moreFrozen, and it’s worth it.”

At the same time as the announcements for sequels toToy StoryandZootopia,Disney CEO Bob Igerrevealed in an investor call at the top of the year that anotherFrozenfollow-up is currently “in the works.”
“We’ll have more to share about these productions soon, but this is a great example of how we’re leaning into our unrivaled brands and franchises,” Iger said at the time, perDeadline.
Iger’s announcement came nearly four years after the release of 2019’sFrozen 2, and nearly a decade after the franchise’s initial 2013 installment. In the years since, cast members themselves have even advocated for another film in the series, includingKristen Bell, who joked onThe Tonight Showin 2022 thatshe wanted to “officially announce, with zero authority,Frozen 3.”
“Please bear in mindI did say ‘zero authority,‘‘cause I can’t [actually announce it]. I can’t do that — I’m not in charge. But there could be something in the works and something maybe happening, maybe,” she said at the time.
“I’ll keep it mysterious,” Bell teased. “But I knowIdina [Menzel]recently said she would do it, and I feel like if we’re all in what are we waiting for?”
