Kate Middletonmet Olivia Colman – and it’s anyone’s guess as to who was more excited!

The royal mom of threeattended the annual BAFTA Awards(the British equivalent of the Oscars) on Sunday alongside husbandPrince William, but there was another kind of royalty in the house. Kate shared an exciting moment with Colman, whowon the night’s Best Actress awardfor her portrayal ofQueen Anne inThe Favourite.In addition, Colman will playPrince William‘s grandmotherQueen Elizabeth IIin seasons 3 and 4 of Netflix’sThe Crown.

Both women greeted each other with giant smiles on their faces, sharing a handshake behind the scenes at Royal Albert Hall. The two women were all smiles as they chatted with each other.

Colman tells PEOPLE that Kate and William were “absolutely lovely” and “absolutely wonderful” – and told her that they enjoyed watchingThe Favourite.

A stunned Colman shook as she gave heracceptance speech.

“We’re having an amazing night,” the 45-year-old actress said. “We’re going to get so pissed later. Yorgos Lanthimos, I can’t think of the words to thank you enough for letting me do this. My most favorite time ever.”

Although the actress told PEOPLE she “completely forgot to read the first page of my speech,” she was ready to celebrate.

“All I want to do now is have fun, have some food and have a few drinks. Just enjoy the moment,” she said.

William, 36, and Kate, 37, also got a chance to congratulate Colman’s costar Rachel Weisz, who won Best Supporting Actress for her role as the Duchess of Marlborough. The film, who went into the awards show with a commanding 12 nominations, also snagged the Outstanding British Film award – but fell short toRomain the Best Film category.

For the event, Kate wore a white asymmetrical Alexander McQueen dress with floral embellishments on her left shoulder. She paired the elegant gown with a white clutch, a diamond bracelet and a pair of her late mother-in-law Princess Diana’s pearl and silver earrings. Diana wore the earrings in 1995 while accepting the Humanitarian of the Year Award from the United Celebral Palsy Foundation.

William opted for a simple black tuxedo with a white pocket square.
