The larger-than-life tale of Samurai Jack came to a conclusive end earlier this year with a final encounter between Jack and Aku . But even with a full season to build up to the ultimate end , Tartakovsky felt a little pressed for meter .
Discussing the final two installment in a dense , wide - range audience on Samurai Jack ’s last time of year over atSyFy Wire , Tartakovsky discusses the difficulties in trimming the ending down to meet the strict eight - episode limit he was facing :
By the time we got to [ episode ] ten , we edit so much out . We had a prank of Aku being a variation announcer interview himself about how he feels at long last drink down Jack . It was a much big deal and people all over the worldly concern are look out but it got to be too much . At the end of the day , we realized it should have been an minute and a one-half movie . We still like the episode and how it turned out but it ’s one of those things where you realize to get the concluding , final , last gratification to make the battle as larger-than-life as you want it to be – as I say earlier , the full of Jack is a simple idea executed greatly – and this was really three instalment in one . It felt a small step on it in places and we save open it up in the final stage to take a breath .

A lot of witness , myself include , felt that the finale did n’t quite reach the heights of premature moments in the series , and while part of that is due to the sheer anticipation of that final fight , it ’s also because a lot of hoi polloi , I think , sensed what Tartakovsky describes here . There just at last was n’t enough time for all the show ’s various elements to breathe in the last instalment . I ’m sad we ’ll never get to see what Tartakovsky and his squad could have done with an additional half an time of day . Also , that sports announcer gag sounds incredible .
Meanwhile , the entire audience at SyFy isworth a read . The creator turn over his thinking on every installment in the season , proffer insight into the aim behind Jack ’s unexpected romance and the early season portrayal of Jack ’s PTSD . Definitely arrest it out .
Samurai Jack : The Complete Series , hoard all five season of the show , is available now on Blu - ray .
