HTC ’s Touch Dual is now officiallyheaded to US markets , and after a brief hand - on with it , I ’m a lover of the hardware . But at the end of the day , it ’s still a WinMo phone . The phone pairs the shape factor of the HTC Touch with a sliding board - out SureType keyboard in a ( relatively ) light and thin package . And though they gave it the TouchFLO user interface and WIndows Mobile 6.1 Professional , it only covers up WinMo ’s shortcomings to an extent .

My favored part of the phone is the improver of a SureType keyboard , which I intend is a suited texting option when QWERTY keyboards wo n’t do ( for the record , I detest T9 texting on a 0 - 9 pad ) . The computer hardware is minimum in invention , and has a stylus - based touchscreen that set about the job done .

However , I ’m no huge fan of the Windows Mobile chopine , and my beef with it still resist . The camera program keep freezing on me and require a severe reset to get it work right . It take a shit poor use of touchscreen functionality and is far more complicated than it should be . While more antiphonal than on other HTC offerings i ’ve used , the interface somewhat lagged and was a bit jerky . TouchFLO only fixes this so much , broadly speaking bring you back to WinMoLand within one or two screen . The thumb swipe gesture to activate TouchFLO is somewhat difficult and involve too much exploit .
In inadequate — good look hardware , ho hum software .
