The addition of Google Talk chat ( no video or articulation ) to Outlook is welcome tidings , since until now , Microsoft had been resistant to adding chat pardner beyond Facebook and its own Messenger protocol ( which recently brought Skype into the bend ) . It had been a big preventive to Microsoft ’s efforts to desegregate all your communication into unified hub . Hopefully , this means Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 wo n’t be far behind with pluck up Google Talk ( Blue is just around the street corner for both , after all ) , which would be a big step forrader tofinally vex chat right .

For Google , the annunciation comes just ahead of Google I / O , where it ’s expected to roll out a Modern communication enterprise called Babel . Babel will reportedly impart all communication from Google ( Talk , Hangouts , etc . ) under one roof , and if it ’s partnering up with Microsoft on this , hey , peradventure it ’ll go the extra mile in bring in outsiders like Messenger , Skype , and even standbys like AIM .
For now , those of you using Outlook get a shiny new chat serve ( rolling out this hebdomad ) . But for the rest of us , this could be the start of something pretty heavy . [ Verge ]
