During the premiere ofAmerican Idolon Sunday, Perry, 33, opened up about the sweet (and hilarious!) way she met her fiancé — and it’s everything we had hoped for.
After contestant Johanna Jones, 23, revealed to judges Perry,Luke BryanandLionel Richiethat she works at her local In-N-Out Burger in Las Vegas, Perry jumped with excitement.
“Can I tell you one thing that is kind of sweet?” Perry asked the room. “I met my boyfriend over In-N-Out. We were at the Golden Globes and we weren’t together. So I had my security guard grab 10 In-N-Outs and all of a sudden I see my boyfriend’s hand — he wasn’t even sitting at our table — he just swoops in and he grabs it and I was like, ‘Hey that’s my burger!’

“And you were like, ‘Oh, you’re on the other end of that hand,'” Bryan added.
“Yeah I did,” Perry responded.
“In-N-Out creates true love,” Jones said, to which Perry replied, “It really does!”

“Full bloom,” she sweetly captioned the image, using a play on her husband-to-be’s name.

“They’ve been talking about getting engaged for a while. After reconciling Katy has felt very secure with Orlando and they both knew it was different this time,” the source said. “They made their relationship a priority and both of them literallyflew all around the worldto keep their relationship strong.”
American Idolreturns Sunday at 8 p.m. EST on ABC. The cross-country audition tour will move forward with an all-new episode on Wednesday, March 6 at 8 p.m. then will continue every Sunday, with five additional Monday night episodes starting March 18.
